Failed Biopsy and a Few Aliens

Thursday, my husband and I went to the hospital, all prepared to get a biopsy done on one of his lymph nodes so we could find out what is going on with his body and causing everything to be so enlarged.

So we get to the hospital, they direct him to the ultrasound tech, whose job it was to find out if they could see a lymph node that was safe to get to using a guided biopsy. Basically, take a needle, insert it into the lymph node and collect a sample. Well, as they were doing the ultrasound to find a good lymph node to biopsy, they kind of had an "uh-oh" moment.

The only lymph node that they could get a clear view of with the ultrasound machine was in a place that was not good. The doctor would have had to go through the liver, and then the lymph node was surrounded by blood vessels that could have caused uncontrolled bleeding if accidentally severed. Needless to say, I was a bit worried. I was very thankful when the doctor volunteered that, if in our position, he himself would not do the biopsy under the same conditions. My husband sided with the doctor and opted not to have the biopsy done.

I was very thankful for this, but it still leaves a lot of questions unanswered. We still don't know what is causing the enlarged spleen, or lymph nodes through out his body to be swollen. I'm still praying for answers, and praying that he will also pray. I'm praying the doctors will find out what is causing all of this to happen.

Since the biopsy was supposed to take all day, my husband and I were left wondering what to do. We had planned on being stuck in the hospital all day. So we went back home and hubby took a nap (he had driven us home overnight from Miami and didn't get home until about 1:30, and had to be up in time to get to the hospital at 7:00. Needless to say he was a bit tired. While deciding what to do for the afternoon, we opted to go see a movie. We don't go very often, because most of the time our budget just doesn't really allow for it, but we LOVE watching movies and going to the movie theatre. So we went and saw Cowboys & Aliens. I personally LOVE Harrison Ford, and was super excited about seeing the movie. Chris later confided that he would have rather watched Captain America or Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I can't blame him. The only sci-fi he ever really got into was Star Trek, and the Joss Whedon show Firefly. The movie wasn't great, just fun to watch. In my book, a fun to watch movie usually means it was awesome. I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but it was a fun movie. I personally really liked it.

So, we have to wait possibly another week for the biopsy to be done again, and then have to wait possibly even longer to get in and see the doctor about the results. Our patience has been running thin where the doctors are concerned, so I'm praying that we won't get too frustrated over these next few weeks, and that hopefully we will get an answer for all this.

I'll be praying for you and your Hubby. I know how hard it is to sit around and wait, and then think you're going to get answers and have to wait again.
As for Harrison Ford, I have loved him since Star Wars. He is one of my fantasy men. Sean Connery is another favorite I don't care how old he is, I just love to listen to him talk! And Viggo Mortenson, ONLY as Aragorn in the Lord of the Ring Trilogy. I don't like him in any other movie so I guess it's just Aragorn.
My Hubby has great patience with me because he knows that He is the only one for me!
